Natural Ingredients

The use of natural ingredients in household products is essential to a healthy and long-lasting life. Chemicals such as benzene, formaldehyde and parabens, which are preservatives found in shampoos and beauty products, are extremely harmful and linked to cancer.

As consumers, we are usually ignorant of the misleading and profit-boosting tactics companies use in their products. Usually, I’m a product-lover! I grew up accustomed to soaps, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and a three-step facial cleansing routine. Somewhere in the background noise, I can recall conscious messages of the detrimental effects of deodorant and similar warnings of fluoride in toothpaste. I decided to always purchase fluoride-free toothpaste and aluminum-free deodorant. Only after becoming interested in essential oils and pursuing an aromatherapy certificate did I learn about all of these harmful chemicals. Steps can be made to ban harmful chemicals from our products, starting with replacing them with natural alternatives.

We use products on a daily basis; they are part of our morning routine and evening pampering. So, it's easy to overlook simple things such as lotion and cosmetics, but the time has come to realize what's actually being used to create these products.

Deadly chemicals can be traced in all products. Large-scale companies use cheap preservatives to survive the long trip abroad and withstand a long shelf life on warehouse shelves. Examples of these products are methyl, ethyl, and propyl which are all a subcategory to a chemical group known as parabens. These chemicals can easily be found in the ingredients of your favorite foundation and conditioners. These chemicals enter your blood within hours and have been found in breast tumors linking them to breast cancer.

Diethanolamine is a synthetic solvent widely used in brake fluid, antifreeze, and industrial degreasers. Surprisingly, this is also used in liquid soap, shampoo, and conditioner. It is harmful to many organs, causes cancer, and poses a health risk, especially in young children and infants. Other chemicals to look out for include formaldehyde, sodium lauryl sulphate, petrolatum, coal tar, hydroquinone, and triclosan.

There are natural and non-toxic alternatives that heal instead of harm. Using natural products is more effective and safe. Butters, clays, essential oils, and carrier oils have healing properties. They have anti-aging, anti-bacterial , and anti-septic properties. These products are rejuvenating and anti-spasmodic and have analgesic properties. There are oils for beauty, pain, illness, stress, lack of energy, and so much more!

What is gained through aromatherapy can never be attained by synthetic replicas.

Natural is the wave!
